The European Social Charter for Sport Events project has successfully been launched on Monday, January 18th, 2021. Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, not all the partners could physically attend the meeting, therefore we had a mixed format with some of the partners onsite in EASE’s offices (Paris 2024, France 2023, European Federation for Company Sport) and other online (Sport and Citizenship, Institute for Sport Governance, ASSER Institute, Italian Volleyball Federation and Olympic Committee of Slovenia).
This meeting allowed all partners to get to know each other better and to remind the workload and timeline of the project. During the meeting, the Director for Impact and Legacy of Paris 2024, Marie Barsacq, presented the Social Charter of Paris 2024. This Social Charter represents an important precedent of which the European Social Charter for Sport Events will draw inspiration. Paris 2024 presented the contents, the implementation, the context, and the political rationale of their Social Charter. The partners then had the chance to engage the discussion about the implementation of a social charter.
This meeting was also the occasion for the French Minister for Sports, Mrs Roxana Maracineanu to state her support to this project during a warm opening speech of the meeting.
